This statue of the most famous engineer of the 19th century can be seen down at the marina in Neyland. His ambition for the village was to establish an international port here in West Wales and connect the railway with transatlantic crossings to America was never accomplished. The statue shows him clutching a steam train and paddle steamer. Neyland nevertheless became the Irish ferry service and terminal for the South Wales Railway.
